Mock previously worked as a Writer/Reporter for Pittsburgh City Paper (2002-2006), American Prospect (2008-2009), and The Lens NOLA as a Staff Reporter (2009-2010). From 2010 to 2011, he served as the Communications Manager for Ocean Conservancy's Gulf Restoration Program based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Afterward, he joined Colorlines as a Reporter (2012-2014), where he reported on voting rights. Mock then joined Grist as a Justice Editor, producing blogs on social and environmental justice, history, and politics (2014-2015). He works at Bloomberg CityLab as a Staff Writer, writing on urban issues ranging from the environment to the economy (2015-present). Mock previously was a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
