Dr. Jasmine Abrams is a research scientist specializing in behavioral health and international health equity at the Yale School of Public Health, where she is a Presidential Research Fellow. She holds over 15 years of experience working with community-based organizations to understand sexual and maternal health among Black women across the African Diaspora. Her research has been supported by numerous high-profile and reputable organizations including the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the National Institute of Minority Health Disparities, the National Institutes of Mental Health, and the Fogarty International Center. Dr. Abrams is also the co-founder of Research Unlimited and founder of the Thrive Institute for Professional Development.

Early Life and Education: 

Dr. Jasmine Abrams attended Virginia State University, a Historically Black College/University (HBCU), for her undergraduate degree before pursuing a Master’s in Experimental Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. She holds a PhD in health psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Career: 

Dr. Abrams formerly taught at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (2015-2019) and Boston University’s School of Public Health (2019-2022) as an Assistant Professor. In 2014, Dr. Abrams co-founded Research Unlimited, a research assistance firm that specializes in increasing efficiency and productivity in research. In particular, the organization helps researchers reach hard-to-reach populations, including communities of color, young populations, and the LGBTQ+ community. Dr. Abrams also founded the Thrive Institute for Professional Development in 2020. The Institute works to inspire success among researchers through training and international retreats. In 2022, Dr. Abrams joined the Yale School of Public Health as a Public Health Research Scientist. In this role, she researches international behavioral health and health equity among women of African ancestry. She is also the Director of the Global Community Health Promotion Network, where she leads domestic and international research in collaboration with community-based organizations.

Dr. Abrams’ expertise is highly regarded and has been funded by organizations including the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the National Institute of Minority Health Disparities, and the Fogarty International Center. She has also spoken at numerous engagements to promote global health equity.
