Marvin C. Brown IV is currently a Senior Attorney at Earthjustice. His background is in environmental and civil rights law, where he has practiced with firms including Baker & Hostetler LLP, The Chandra Law Firm LLC, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the latter where he worked under Chief Judge R. Guy Cole Jr. As a Judicial Law Clerk.

Early Life and Education: 

Marvin C. Brown IV attended Ohio State University, earning his Bachelor’s in French and Comparative Studies: Ethnic and American Studies. He continued his education to receive his Juris Doctor from Yale Law School in 2016.

Career: 

Brown worked as a Summer Associate with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York City during law school. He spent a year as a Fox Fellow at the University of Cape Town in South Africa from 2014-2015. After earning his J.D., Brown worked as an associate with The Chandra Law Firm LLC from 2016 to 2018, where he focused on police brutality and employment discrimination cases before becoming a Judicial Law Clerk at the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit for Chief Judge R. Guy Cole Jr. in 2018. He worked as a clerk for over a year before joining Baker & Hostetler LLP in Ohio as a Litigation Associate practicing environmental law. He currently works as a Senior Attorney at Earthjustice in Washington, D.C.
