Dr. Millie Piazza is the Program Manager of the Office of Equity and Environmental Justice at the Washington State Department of Ecology, where she has served in the role for 15 years. She is a trained environmental sociologist with experience in natural science and international environmental justice. Dr. Piazza also represents the Department of Ecology on the Governor's Interagency Council on Health Disparities and the Region X Health Equity Board. Additionally, she is the agency's Language Access Coordinator, where she supports the Multi-lingual Interpretation and Translation team.

Dr. Millie Piazza is the child of a first-generation immigrant, growing up in a multi-lingual household. She has spent time in Taiwan, Japan, Guam, and Palau, all of which informed her interests in social justice and community access.
Dr. Piazza joined the Washington State Department of Ecology 25 years ago and has been serving as the Office of Equity & Environmental Justice Program Manager for the past 15 years. In her role, she ensures environmental justice is rooted in the department's strategies and goals. In addition to her role as Program Manager, Dr. Piazza serves as the agency's Language Access Coordinator, on the National Environmental Justice Advisory Council, the Governor's Interagency Council on Health Disparities, the Region X Health Equity Board, and the Superfund Research Program External Advisory Board.
In her role with the Washington State Department of Ecology, Dr. Piazza has hosted numerous student interns and young professionals, inspiring many to pursue environmental justice and ecology careers.
