Francisco San Juan
Dr. Francisco San Juan is known for his GIS and remote sensing expertise. He was born and raised in the Philippines. After earning his bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in Geology, he served as a professor at Elizabeth City State University. Since 1982, he has taught geology, marine, and environmental sciences courses at ECSU.

Francisco San Juan was born and raised in the Philippines. He graduated with his Geology degree at the University of the Philippines in 1966. He later completed his doctoral degree in Geology at Florida State University.
Since August 1982, Dr. San Juan has been a Professor of Geology at Elizabeth City State University.
Dr. Francisco San Juan is a geologist with a strong background in geochemistry. He has spent six years in the mining industry, primarily in mineral exploration, including geochemical prospecting and mine geology (gold and copper). For over 20 years, he has taught geology, marine, and environmental sciences courses. He has developed a Minor in GIS/Remote Sensing curriculum and accompanying laboratories. Since 1994, Dr. San Juan has taught GIS (Geographic Information System) and remote sensing introductory courses.
In 2012, Dr. San Juan developed a course, “ENSC 300 Global Seminar: Environment and Sustainability,” that looks at the intersection of food, population, environment, and economics.
